Words:

"Use Log File" sets a data file property?

It appears that the .4DD data file is somehow "marked" by 4D when the
"Use Log File" pref is turned on and a backup has taken place.

I'm trying to make a copy of the data file which, when opened by a
copy of the 4D structure (Volume Desktop in this case) where "Use Log
File" is not turned on, won't force the user into dealing with "the
correct log file for this data file could not be found" sequence of
events.

This request for the log file is coming from a version of the
structure where logging and backup are turned off. Furthermore the
request for the log file executes if there is no Backup prefs folder
(containing backup.xml) and even if backup.xml is edited:

False
False

Never

I've tried executing the command SELECT LOG FILE (*) on startup, but
the request for the log file precedes execution of startup code.

So the log file request must be triggered by something in the data
file? Any ideas?

Thanks,

Bill
