Off the top of my head, I'd just leave that as a b-tree unless you're
regularly searching on the value that returns 25000 results.

(I don't know why I'm speaking so authoritatively my total experience
of experimenting with different index types = o, so this is pure
speculative theory !)

My original post about this was based around the idea that you could
get very far with very little thought by only addressing the extreme
cases initially. For example, in a big database (3-4 million
transaction records per table in 10 tables) where product type and
product group are indexed and where there are less than 50 types and
groups, this is a no-brainer situation for a cluster I thought.
