John, this is exactly the problem.

I need a "standalone" folder containing the 4D.app plus the data and
data index files, which are updated by 4D Server on backup shutdown.

I'm not sure why the command SELECT LOG FILE (*) exists if its
execution on startup can't suppress the log file request dlog. Maybe
that's the bug.
